Marken, Volendam and Windmills

This tour shows the typical Dutch countryside of polders and little canals on the way to the' Zaanse Schans', a well - known windmill village, wooden houses and old fashioned little shops. You will visiting a wooden shoemaker here. Then we move on to the world-famous fishing villages of Volendam and Marken - on the coast of the former Zuiderzee (now called Ljsselmeer), ith its wooden houses and locals wearing their colorful style of dress. On the way, stop at one of the very few cheese farms where the cheese is still made in the traditional way. You will have approximately 45 minutes at each stop. In summertime (March 25 to October 31) take the option to join a 20 minute boat trip from Volendam to Marken. Tours departing on Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm (November 1 - March 25) do not stop at Marken, however additional time is spent at the windmill village and Volendam.

Amsterdam is particularly well-known for its three rings of canals, along which thousands of elaborately decorated merchants' residences and warehouses were built in the 17th century, the Dutch 'Golden Age'. When the network of canals was dug, 90 islands were created, which are connected to one another by hundreds of bridges. This in-depth tour offers you the opportunity to experience some of the highlights of Amsterdam. You will see by luxurious coach, the old and new parts of this beautiful city with its many historical buildings and interesting sights. Visit the Royal Palace, the National Monument, the Skinny Bridge, the Albert Cuyp Market and the beautiful houses along the canals. You will also visit a windmill on the river Amstel and a stop will be made at a diamond factory where you will see the traditional way of polishing. You also have the option to enjoy a boat trip along a typical Dutch canal. Please select the appropriate tour option at time of booking. The one hour cruise takes you through the Amsterdam canals. Alongside these canals you can see 17th century merchant houses, with their beautiful facades, churches with belltowers and 16th and 17th century warehouses. You will also pass through the Old Harbor.
