The Algarve is the best place to enjoy sun sea and sand in Portugal. The climate is great and there are over 100 miles of the finest soft golden sand beaches. The region runs from the Atlantic Ocean near Sagres in the West to Vila Real de Santo António in the East - on the Spanish border. The old Twon, the Governor's Palace and the old Slaves' Market are attractions not to be missed. Other places of interest are: the Museu Regional, the Pau da Bandeira Fort. The Lagos Marina is the 1st stop over for boats coming in from Western Europe to the Algarve, and is thus much sought after on the way in and out of the Algarve by sea. Do not miss a trip to the Ponta da Piedade caves. From the Marina de Lagos to the Forte Ponta da Bandeira, you will come across any number of fishermen who will be glad to take you on an unforgettable boat trip.

Albufeira - Albufeira, in the centre of the Algarve, boasts some of the best beaches, with secluded coves and magnificent stretches of golden sand. Albufeira, famous for its day and night life, with lot of restaurants and bars where one can discover and taste the Algarve’s gastronomic delights.

Faro - Faro is the gateway to the Algarve thanks to its international airport and easy access by car or train, yet its peaceful atmosphere differentiates it from other popular cities in the Algarve.
Harum, or Farão, was originally a prehistoric fishing village. Cidade Velha (the Old City) overlooks the marina and Faro’s estuary, Ria Formosa, where it remains isolated behind its ancient walls.
The earliest building is the cathedral dating from the 13th century. The other buildings around the square include the Bishop’s Palace and seminary from the 18th century and the 19th century town hall.
Many of Faro’s points of interest are easily in walking distance. A short walk from the main gate of the Cidade Velha across the square will take you to the Rua do Santo Antonio, where you can visit many lovely shops and cafes in a pedestrian-only environment. Following the nearby Rua do Lethes leads you to a plain building that formerly served as a Jesuit school but now houses the local Red Cross and the Tetro Lethes (it is said that it is a miniature of the La Scala in Milan).
Nautical sports in Ria Formosa or a boat trip to its islands known for their fine white sand and crystal clear water.

Portimão - Praia da Rocha offers a wide range of souvenir shops, restaurants, night-clubs and bars. There is also a first-class casino located close to the beach.
Visit the town of Portimão, set on the estuary of the Arade River. The fishing port of Portimão is blessed with a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere and a rich selection of fish and seafood restaurants.
Av. Tomás Cabreira, where you can enjoy the magnificent views of the cliff tops leading on to the Fort of Santa Catarina. This fort was built in 1621 to defend Silves and Portimão against opposing fleets and more recently became the new Marina of Praia da Rocha.
A short drive west lies the picturesque village of Alvor, where the discovery of a Neolithic settlement with the remains of a subsequent Roman occupation is evidence of the town’s historic past.
Other sites and towns easily accessible in the region include the historical city of Silves (17km) away, the mountains of Monchique and Caldas do Monchique and its famous rejuvenating water (26km) and the city of Lagos (20km).

Tavira - Located only 30 km from Faro, Tavira is a picturesque town with long beaches and typical Portuguese architecture. Cross the Roman bridge to visit attractions such as Santa Maria do Castelo Church or the Travessa de Dona Brites with its medieval houses. Also not to be missed is the nearby village of Luz and its Renaissance church.
Historic buildings and long beaches make Tavira a fun place to be. Discover Nossa Senhora das Ondas or São Paulo and Carmo, both churches that were built in the 17th century.
