Greece Islands - Accommodation, Sightseeing Tours, Attractions, Information

Aegina  interactive map
The island of Aegina is situated in the middle of the Saronic Gulf and has been at the crossroads of cultures for thousands of years. In ancient times, Aegina Island was one of the strongest states and produced the first Greek coins - the silver "toirtoises" Nowadays, Aegina Island is like something out of a movie, picturesque houses, winding alley, fertile plains, terraced hill-sides of olive trees and aquamarine water. Aegina is also famous for its' pistachio nuts (which are the most tasty) and its local fish but also for others goods of the local production. Agia Marina is the most beautiful and popular destination and tourist centre located on the east-side of Aegina Island. It has a fine sandy beach and shallow waters stretching from the port, right round the bay to the old harbour, where there is the small chapel of Agia Marina which gave the area its name.

Agistri  interactive map
Agistri is a peacefully remote and beautiful island in the Saronic Gulf, just one hour from the Athenian port of Piraeus and minutes away from the most well known and cosmopolitan islands of Aegina, Hydra and Poros. Agistri is the smallest of the Saronic islands with three main villages: Skala, Milos and the agricultural village of Limenaria. Due to its size and tranquillity, Agistri is sometimes described as the best kept secret of the Saronic Gulf.
The main tourist resort is Skala, dominated by the large white church of Agion Anargyron situated close to a sandy beach. There are numerous Greek tavernas and cafe bars as well as a couple of small clubs. The next village of Megalochori or Milos is the capital of the island. Its scenic tiled lanes, traditional cafes, windmill and stone-built houses contribute to the ambience of the island.
On the west side of the island you will find yourself in a magical place that is in absolute harmony with the green of the pine trees and the deep blue of the sea. It is worth visiting the graphic harbour of Mariza and exotic landscape where the most beautiful beach of the island, Aponisos, is situated. The third village, Limenaria, gives you the opportunity to admire the stone houses, cypress and olive trees, melon fields and the picturesque village taverns.

There are 3 different beaches:

  1. GLAROTOPOS: stone beach with wooden kiosks. Ware your shoes and gather oysters and shells for your ouzo drink.
  2. PORTO AGIO: directly at the harbour. Here you can find also the Beach Bar OASIS with refreshments and light snacks.
  3. GOLDEN BEACH: the name describes everything.

Chios  interactive map
Chios is the fifth largest island of Greece. It is located in the north east Aegean Sea and is close to the coast of Turkey. The Chios landscape consists of green mountains and is surrounded by a variety of beaches from sand to unique smooth black volcanic pebbles.
The unique area of Kambos has more than 250 mansions dating all the way to the 10th century and is reminiscent to the style of Tuscany. As an island that enjoys a rich and exciting historical past, it is unique in natural beauties such as orchards, mastiha trees and jasmine flowers.

Evia  interactive map
Evia is the 2nd largest island of Greece. Its capital city, Halkida, is a cosmopolitan city with many famous archaeological sites. It is also famous for the rare phenomenon of the tide changing direction every 6 hours. Halkida is 70 km from Athens.
Eretria is a popular beach resort located on the south-west coast of Evia, near Casteli. It is just 20 km from Chalkis and 90 km from Athens and boasts a large beach promenade.
Pefki was once a small harbour for local fishermen. Due to its clear waters and natural beauty as one of the Greece’s longest beaches, it soon became a favourite holiday resort, whilst retaining its traditional qualities. As the name of the village means "pine tree", it will be no surprise to find that this resort is situated at the feet of hills, hidden in pine woods. The whole area is full of hidden beauties, small traditional villages, woods, waterfalls and various beaches, offering something for everyone.

Hydra  interactive map
Hydra is the model for a natural and historical setting that will leave you refreshed after your holiday. Besides garbage trucks, motor vehicles are not permitted on the island; which leaves the bulk of public transportation up to horses, donkeys and water taxis. The inhabited area, however, is so compact that most people walk everywhere.
The ancient roads and alleys of Hydra are paved with slabs, while many of the houses adorned with flowers, gives the island a tranquil and romantic mood. The island’s manors are worth visiting and the harbour provides a pleasant and serene atmosphere. The hills of Periptero and Spilia are a short distance away and provide splendid scenery for admiring the sunset. Take the advantage to visit some of the monasteries and churches of Hydra, and enjoy the island’s combination of nature and culture.

Ios - Ios is a mountainous island with a dry Cycladic landscape and is situated at the south of Naxos and Paros and north of Santorini. In the past it has served as the refuge of pirates, but today Ios combines the intense cosmopolitan life with tradition.
The capital of the island is Ios - Chora and it is one of the most safe natural harbours of Greece. Ten minutes away from it one finds Milopotas bay, which is famous for its sandy beach, considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the Aegean Sea.
The island of the ancient Phoenixes is a place where you can discover fairy - like beaches, white houses, churches with blue domes and many more.

Kalymnos and Telendos - Besides being a strong draw for adventure travelers -- particularly divers, winsurfers, and rock climbers eager to tackle the island's limestone cliffs -- off-the-grid Kalymnos is relatively unscathed by tourism. Its tooth-shaped sister island, Telendos, which was part of Kalymnos until an earthquake separated the two in the sixth century A.D., is even quieter. The water taxi from Myrtes Beach to Telendos costs only a few euros, but the views of the jagged peak rising out of the Aegean are worth 10 times that. Onshore in Telendos, there's a small strip of tavernas and some residences, but the buildings and houses quickly fall away, leaving the hiker with early Christian basilicas, a necropolis, and a secret white-washed church built right into a cliff. The far end of the island boasts a nudist beach.
Hotels Kalymnos

Kos - Kos is one of islands in the Dodecanese and probably only rivalled by Rhodos when it comes down to popularity. The capital of Kos, which also bears the name Kos, is on the eastern side of the island. Although its a fairly modern city (not in the least because of the annual invasion of travellers), it has some quite well-preserved sights, such as the Knights of St John Castle dominating the harbour and ruins of ancient Roman buildings.

Lesbos - As the 3rd largest of the Greek islands, Lesvos offers much scope for exploration and is very friendly to visitors.
Petra has been built along the shore in the north part of Lesbos. It is a short distance from Molivos and Eftalou, where visitors can find thermal baths and the beach of Anaxos. Dominated by its famous, picturesque church, perched 40 metres above the rooftops on a huge rocky outcrop in the centre of the village, Petra is a year-round working village. Its traditional way of life still flourishes with fishermen busy on the harbour and farmers chatting noisily over their morning coffee in the bustling village square.
Kalloni is a small town, which satisfies the needs and wishes of every guest. The town has a large and diversified market, cafes and traditional buildings that catch the eye of travellers. Skala Kallonis, which is the natural extension of the town to the picturesque gulf of Kalloni, boasts an organised beach, ideal for families with children. Traditional tavernas, with local delicacies, sardines, fish and ouzo, as well as trendy bars, meet the need for excellent Greek food and vibrant nightlife. The gulf of Kalloni, protected by UNESCO, provides shelter to hundreds of birds, from early April to October. Apart from birdwatching, The Monasteries of Leimonos and Panagias Myrsiniotissas are very popular destinations in the vicinity, both of significant religious and historical importance.

Mykonos - Cosmopolitan island, famous in the last decades from the international jet set visitors that have spent here their holidays, in the last few years Mykonos has partially lost its exclusive soul and has been frequented mostly by young people who want to enjoy the island great nightlife (which is often compared to Ibiza and Ayia Napa).
The never-sleeping town of Mykonos and its surroundings will tempt you with the best Greece has to offer in discos, nightclubs, restaurants and bars.

Paros - The island of Paros is located at the heart of the Cyclades Island cluster and is renowned for its great natural beauty, dazzling sandy beaches, turquoise waters, fascinating sites and impressive geomorphic formations. Paros attracts countless Greek and foreign tourist every year who come to relax and to admire its unique features.
One of the greatest attractions of the island of Paros is its local cuisine. We suggest trying some of the delicious local dishes such as chickpea soup, sea urchin salad, gouna (sun-dried fish), rafiolia (little fried myzithra cheese pies), spinach and squash pie, karavoli (snails and garlic dip) and fish soup, accompanied by the excellent Paros wine.

Rhodes - Rhodes is the largest of the islands in the Dodecanese and the 4th largest island in Greece. It lies in the south-east corner of the Aegean Sea, just off the coast of Asia Minor. The so-called "Pearl of the Mediterranean" is of great interest both for its natural beauty and for its archaeological treasures. Rhodes has recently been proclaimed a world cultural heritage monument by UNESCO. At the same time, Rhodes is also considered to be the most cosmopolitan resort in the Mediterranean.
The island of Rhodes is marked by striking contrasts in landscape. Several parts of the island have long, picturesque, sandy beaches, exotic landscapes, rocky or fertile soil with olive groves, heavenly lagoons, green peninsulas and several scattered fishing villages. These are some of the favourite sights of Rhodes that contribute to its unique natural beauty.
Rhodes is also well-known for its climate. It enjoys what is perhaps one of the best subtropical Mediterranean climates, with over 300 days and more than 3,000 hours of sunshine each year.

Samos - Samos has always been known as being blessed with natural beauty and this has not changed. The dramatic, indented coastline is dotted with sand and shingle coves, while inland the slopes of the mountains and hills are covered in vines and verdant forest.
The town curls around a semi-circular bay with its pretty pastel-coloured buildings rising in tiers up a green hillside from its busy waterfront.
Ormos Marathokampos lies on the south-western side of the island of Samos at the foot of the high mountain Kerkis and overlooks the deep blue Aegean Sea. Apart from Ormos, with its lovely harbour and seaside, there are the beaches of Velanidia, Votsalakia, Psili Ammos close by.
The whole verdant region is ideal for walks, for trips to several monasteries and chapels in the region, as well as to Pythagoras cave, and for climbing up Kerkis, the highest mountain of Samos (1450 m high).

Sifnos - Sifnos is one of the unspoilt, ‘undiscovered’ islands of the Aegean, reverting in the winter months to a community of farmers and fishermen. Justifiably famous for its cuisine and ceramics, Sifnos also boasts an archaeological museum and a folk museum, and is ideal for hiking, photography, painting or just relaxing.
Apollonia, the capital of Sifnos is a beautiful village, spread out across the hills. The Museum of Popular Arts and Folklore and the frescoes of Agios Athanassios church are both worth a visit.
Kastro - the capital of the island between the 14th and 19th centuries, a good deal of medieval charm is still in evidence here. Built on a rocky cliff-side area, there is virtually a sheer drop down to the sea on 3 sides.
Hotels Sifnos

Skiathos - An island of the complex of the Northen Sporades, Skiathos is the closest to the Peninsula of Magnesia at a distance of 3 nm from it. It is a small island full of green, marvelous sea coast and a thrilling nature.
