Thank goodness for serendipity. EVERYTHING about this hotel is FABULOUS: rooms, service, restaurant, location, value. The ambience is modern, sleek and tasteful. You'll like it even if your favorite style is Chippendale. Rooms are spacious apartments with every amenity provided including in-room washing machine with free laundry detergent. Restaurant has varied, interesting and creative menu for dinner and breakfast. Location is a few blocks from the Parliament buildings, a lovely waterfront stroll from the Te Pau Pau museaum and a quick walk to the tram that takes you up the hill to the Botanical Gardens. (Don't miss the Gardens- well marked path will take you right back to the Bolton!) There is an attached parking garage and easy access to the highway north or the ferry to the South Island. Repeat after me: "STAY HERE!".</p> <p>-------------------</p> <p>Great hotel in quiet part of town. Very modern decor but still comfortable.Perfect for 2/3 day stay in the city. Pool was fun - very small and rather cold but hot tub makes up for it!</p> <p>------------------</p> <p>We enjoyed our two nights in the Bolton Hotel. The hotel is in central Wellington, on the fringe of the business district and only 5 mintutes walk from the waterfront and 2 minutes from the main shopping area. Our 'room' was actually an apartment, with separate living / kitchen and bedroom and spacious bathroom - plenty of space to spread out. As we were on the 13th floor we had good views over the neighbouring park and hills surrounding the city. There's no ocean views, which could be a bit of a disadvantage to some travellers. </p> <p>Rooms were well appointed and the kitchen was fully equipped. Plenty of towels,decent size bathtub, a full length mirror, ironing board & iron, comfortable beds and even a throw rug for comfort. The airconditioning was quiet & worked well. </p> <p>We found the staff at reception and breakfast very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good; although choices were a little limited the quality was good. My request for Vegemite (an Australian / New Zealand delicacy) was easily met. </p> <p>The hotel is new (opened early 2005) and decorated in fashionable neutrals. Parking is available on site, although on weekends it is easy to park on the street.
