Newsletter # 6, Thailand
12.12.2005
The
best cultures and backgrounds makes
Thailand an interesting
and memorable country to visit. More people visit Thailand than any other
country in Southeast Asia. This is no surprise as the Royal Kingdom of
Thailand has much to offer for the visitor: historic culture, lively arts,
beautiful beaches, a good nightlife, friendly and hospitable people and
last but not least
one of the
best cuisines in the world. Travel in Thailand is easy due to a good
network of trains, busses and airplanes. Most visitors enter the country
via the Southeast Asian travel hub
Bangkok, the City of
Angels. From there you can do great daytrips to cities like the former
capital Ayutthaya and Kanchanaburi , known for the River Kwai bridge.
Popular beach islands include
Koh
Samui and Phuket Island.
Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand is popular for Thai culture and
scenary.
From there most visitors head either north or south. In the north you can
visit the interesting cities of Sukhothai ,
Chiang Mai ,
Chiang Rai or
Mae Hong Son . The north is known for its fantastic trekking
possibilities, the interesting hill tribes, and its gentle Lanna culture.
In the south the traveler can relax at some of the most beautiful beaches
in the world, for example, Koh Tao,
Krabi,
Koh
Samui or
Phuket
or Trang. Some areas are very touristy, but it is easy to find some quiet
spots. A little closer to Bangkok there is the resort town of
Hua Hin and
Khao Takiab Beach in Hua Hin, very popular as beaches close to
Bangkok, Hua Hin which is home to one of the most used Palaces.
Cha
Am is also a popular beach area close to Bangkok just north of Hua
Hin.

Newsletter # 5, The
Philippines, 21.11.2005
The Philippines
are the latest addition to our
global network of hotels, so there’s no better time to
visit!
Its capital
Manila is a thriving metropolis. Modern and
colonial architecture intertwine, and combined with a
vibrant market life and museums, celebrate the country’s
unique culture.
If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and
bustle, escape to the spectacular rice terraces
surrounding Banaue. Described as the eighth
wonder of the world, these remarkable terraces were
carved into the hillside over 2000 years ago.
Other destinations worth visiting include
Boracay Island for its famous white beaches,
the ‘chocolate hills’ of Bohol in the Visayas and the
volcanic crater Lake Taal - southwest of Manila.
Not surprisingly, with over 7000 islands, the
Philippines are perfect for diving and snorkelling.
There are also wonderful hiking and trekking
opportunities in the Quezon Province, or you can explore
Palawan's Underground River, a long meandering
network of caves in Sabang's Puerto Princesa
Subterranean National Park. |

Newsletter #4, Brazil, 2.11.2005
From
the passion of Carnaval to the Amazon,
Brazil is a
country of mythic proportions.
It’s staggering beauty is symbolized by unexplored rainforests, islands
with pristine tropical beaches and mighty rivers.
Although Brasilia is the capital, most visitors associate the
country’s diversity and energy with
Rio de
Janeiro. One of the most densely populated places on earth, the locals
thrive on dance, drink, beach, sport and sun. Although ritzy, it also
caters for the more budget-minded.
For the more adventurous, the city of Manaus is a good stop-over
point for exploring parts of the Amazon – a basin that contains 6 million
sq km of river and jungle which spans eight countries. It’s also worth
witnessing the Iguaza Falls which boast the stupendous roar of 275
different waterfalls. The falls are actually divided between Brazil and
Argentina and November is a great time to visit.
It’s also worth considering a visit to the coastal cities of Fortaleza,
Natal, Recife and Salvador.

If you’re looking for a few days relaxation then visit the
tropical island of
Madeira. Set within a spectacular landscape, which includes

The
Algarve also has much to offer, with its beaches among the
best in the world. It also hosts
