Montserrat Tour
Marvel at the amazing setting of the Monastery of Montserrat and visit the
famous Royal Basilica. Like thousands of pilgrims before you, you won't be
left untouched by a visit to this magical mountain, with its peculiar rocky
crags, hidden caves and legends of St Peter's 'Black Virgin' and the Holy
Grail.
After driving through picturesque little villages you will arrive at the
incomparable setting of the mountain of Montserrat, which rises majestically
to 1235 meters. Then visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat, which holds the
famous 12 century Romanesque carving of Virgen Moreneta, the Black Virgin.
The Royal Basilica has been one of the most important pilgrimage sites in
Spain for hundreds of years. On some days the children's choir sings in the
monastery at midday, and so you might also be fortunate enough to catch one
of their delightful performances. On your way back to Barcelona make a stop
at the harbor, where those passengers wishing to do so may visit the
Aquarium on their own (entrance fee not included). There is also a variety
of restaurants, cafes, shops and cinemas in the area, so you may choose to
conclude the tour and stay to explore. The bus will take the remaining
passengers back to the original departure point. At time of booking, you can
choose to travel to Montserrat by coach or by cog-wheel train. On the
cog-wheel train you can take in a breathtaking view over the mountain range
of Montserrat, which is both a unique natural environment in its own right
and an emblematic site for the country of Catalonia.
