Day 1: Arrive Colombo (D)
On arrival at Colombo Airport you will be met by a Tour East
representative and transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon you will
enjoy a City Tour of Colombo which will take you through the commercial
area of the 'Fort' so named, because both the Portuguese and Dutch had a
fort at this point. Drive past 'Pettah' - a noisy Oriental bazaar with a
hotchpotch of humanity, ancient vehicles, bargains, mosques and temples.
Visit a Hindu and Buddhist temple and the Jumi-ul Alfar Jumma Mosque.
Continue with the tour through the Wolvenhal Dutch Church and Hultsforf
Law Courts to the residential area of Cinnamon Gardens and on to the
Independence Square and the Convention Center (BMICH) and the National
Museum. Dinner and Overnight in Colombo

Day 2: Colombo / Sigiriya (B, D)
Breakfast at your hotel this morning will be followed by a tour of
Polonnaruwa which was, with some interruptions, the capital of Sri Lanka
during the VIIIth century. The most important monuments, raised for the
majority from the XIIth to the XIVth century were influenced by the Hindu
architecture of Southern India in the medieval time. En-route to Sigiriya
visit Lankatilleke, Thuparama and Gal Vihara. Dinner and Overnight at

Day 3: Sigiriya / Kandy (B, D)
After breakfast at your selected hotel we visit the Sigiriya Rock
Fortress. The most significant feature of the Rock would have been the
Lion staircase leading to the palace garden on the summit. Based on the
ideas described in some of the graffiti, this Lion staircase could be
visualized as a gigantic figure towering majestically against the granite
cliff, facing north, bright colored, and awe-inspiring. From here we
continue on to explore the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple (optional) - a
complex of five separate caves containing 150 Buddha images and one of the
most impressive Buddhist Temples in the world. En-route to Kandy we will
visit the Spice Garden Matale, where you will be introduced to an array of
herbs and spices and the uses in Ayurvedic cooking. In Kandy visit the
Temple of the Tooth which shelters a very holy relic for the Buddhists (a
molar of the Buddha) - here a Kandyan Cultural Dance will be performed
followed by dinner and overnight in Kandy.

Day 4: Kandy / Nuwara Eliya (B, D)
Breakfast this morning is followed by a visit to the Pinnawela Elephant
Park (optional), Lake Drive and a visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens at
Peradeniya. We then visit a Tea Plantation, here the slopes of the
mountains are covered with trees kiwa (which look like the pines); the
plantations of fruit trees are also numerous. Once in Nuwara Eliya, famous
for its salubrious climate and is one of the most famous health resorts of
Sri Lanka, you will enjoy an afternoon tour of Little England before
dinner and overnight at Nuwara Eliya.

Day 5: Nuwara Eliya / Hambantota (B,D)
After breakfast we depart for Hambantota. In the afternoon you will enjoy
a visit to Bundala Wildlife Park comprising of scrub jungle bordering the
sea, the park stretches along the coast east of Hambantota. The beach is
an important nesting site for turtles. Wildlife at the park includes
elephants, spotted deer, grey langur, jackal, water monitor, crocodiles,
the olive ridley and leatherback turtles, the hawksbill and green turtles.

Day 6: Hambantota / Colombo (B)
After breakfast we head back to Colombo, en-route we will visit Galle
Dutch Fort. Galle is a fortified Dutch city, many are the old Dutch
houses, a beautiful Dutch church dated 1752-54 is still in use, its walls
are full with many tablets and family coats of arms in this church there
are also interesting old tombstones. Tour concludes in Colombo.
